Toyota is developing a device to rival the SegWay scooters called the Winglet. It uses similar technology that allows the user to control speed and direction simply by shifting their weight.

It seems like they have made some important size improvements over the monstrous SegWay, but it still seems like an awkward way to get from point A to point B.

It seems like Toyota’s main advantage over the Segway is that they are releasing it in Japan first which has a high adoption rate for new technology. Success there might cause gas conscious Americans to reconsider the benefits of these personal transport devices.
