processing.pngAs a designer with an eye on interaction, I realize that coding is a huge part of developing digital prototypes. However coming from an Art and Design program I have practically no experience in this discipline. The visual programming software, Processing, was created by MIT students C.E.B. Reas and Ben Fry to aid us code-aphobes in developing dynamic visual models.

Processing emerged from a desire to have a tool that would help designers understand programming. “Ben and I both studied graphic design so we don’t come at this from engineering or computer science background,” explains Reas.

The program is available for Mac, Windows, and Linux based systems. AIGA has a very interesting write-up here.
