I know KU’s switch to Trajan for their typeface is an old issue but I just ran across this website devoted to protesting the typographic change (and make some money on the side).

I have a solid belief that no identity shift will ever be accepted on initial release. You can just look at any modern sports team that revamps their logo and the public derision it will invariably receive from the local fans. The problem is that people are not naturally wired for change, most of us spend our time trying to reach equilibrium and anything new throws a wrench into that. Eventually though, the people adapt.

That being said, a tradition rich school like Kansas doesn’t need to be re-branded. The only thing this accomplished was to bring negative attention to the school by pretty much stealing another school’s trademark (see below).
