Here’s an interesting application that is made possible by the freedom of information act. The Presidential Campaign Contribution Map map allows you to view contributions by State, City, and even by person. Above you can see the distribution of donations by state. Below you can see my home state of Kansas and how they are financially supporting the different candidates.

One of the cooler features is that the search allows you to look up organizations and people by name. A quick search of my old employer, Cerner, showed me what the CEO and Co-Founder were donating to and how much they gave.

Overall it’s pretty nice way to look up and display this information fo rthose that are curious exactly where the money is going and who is giving it.
