I always hear about how the oil and tobacco companies run the government because of their large donations to the candidates campaigns funds. I have never seen these numbers in the context of which companies donate what amounts to which candidates, until now. Priceofoil.org has put together a nice visual summary that plots the flow of funds between the Big Oil and the politicians.

To be honest I was expecting these numbers to be a lot bigger based on media coverage they get. While $550,608 (Guliani’s oil money) is not pocket change, I figured an oil company would be dropping millions on these politicians.
