Oh Happy Day!

This just in, Free State Brewery is expanding to begin bottling their own beer. According to LJWorld
“thanks to a change in state law sought by Free State proprietor Chuck Magerl, the company next year will open a brewing-and-bottling operation in a warehouse at 1927 Moodie Road. The new production center will allow Free State to continue making about 2,500 barrels of beer each year downtown, while adding another 25,000 at the new location.”
Oh yea that’s a lot of beer. Approximately 50,000 kegs worth! Especially when you figure that Free State only sold 800 barrels of beer last year, 25,000 is a huge jump.
What’s that mean for us? Well those of you lucky enough to be living in the midwest get to reap the benefits. Free State already supplies bars in Lawrence, Topeka, Kansas City, and Wichita and now has plans to supply more Kansas locations, as well as making their way up to Nebraska, Iowa and yes, unfortunately Missouri. (They should require a 10% stupidity tax for them) What’s more than that Chuck Magerl (Free State Owner) says he hopes to have the bottles of beer accompany our Thanksgiving dinner by next year. Ah, music to my ears, even if it is only 10 in the morning.
