Coroflot.com has released the results of their latest salary survey for those in the creative sector. Luckily they presented these results visually in a series of graphs instead of spreadsheets. I have shown two of the more interesting graphs here.

The overall outlook for design professions is positive with the exception of fashion design ,but this could be due to the fact that they had the fewest number of respondents. Design management and interaction design gained the most over the last year and also boast the highest average salaries.

One thing I noticed on this chart is that it is almost in chronological order from the newest fields (top) to the oldest (bottom).

I think this chart is the best reference for new designers to get a feel for how the different levels of experience translate into earnings. The three fields with the highest growth potential once again are the youngest disciplines in design. I think this represents the nature of design professions, to start on the cutting edge where trained professionals are scarce, then as demand rises it become quickly comoditized as more and more people jump into it with varying levels of competence.

The good news for all designers is that you progress through the four different levels of experience much quicker in design. After two years you can legitimately claim mid-level status.
