What would a Google search look like if you saw an image of the page you would link to instead of a list of mere text links? It would look a lot like SearchMe, which looks a lot like Apple’s cover-flow system for browsing albums (iTunes), photos (iPhone), and files (Leopard OS).
The interface is simple [...]

In-car navigation might just get a little more interactive if the Virtual Cable can get to market. The concept is to provide a 3D windshield display that projects a trolley car like cable above your desired path. You have to watch the video to get a real feel for it:

I would have written it [...]

I was stumbling around some Digital Signage blogs this morning when I came across an AdAge video talking about an 11 led board digital signage installation by Thompson Reuters in the heart of Times Square. Turns out AdAge does a “3-minute video” of their news headlines each week and this was the May 27th feature. [...]

Looks like a couple German engineers have hacked a Wii Balance Board to be used as a computer navigation device (essentially a body mouse). One of the cooler applications of this, that the video shows, is the ability to surf the globe with online maps like Google Earth.
This also got me thinking how cool it [...]

Just came across a new display app for news headlines brought to you by MSNBC. Spectra (pictured above) is just one of the many news headline displays being developed. According to their site:
Spectra merges the news spectrum and the color spectrum into an expansive news viewing experience. With comprehensive live news coverage, striking design, complete [...]

Interaction Design : Seen on the Street
I’ve always been fond of the speech bubble as a symbol of expression, so I was really interested in this idea from cinquanta5000 to post blank bubble stickers in hopes the community would fill them in. He compares the process of placing the stickers to “planting seeds”, in which he can return at a later [...]

Flare-facade is a building exterior that uses mechanically driven “tiles” to dynamically change it’s appearance. Essentially each tile acts as a pixel that can be light or dark depending on it’s orientation to the sun. It’s kinda hard to tell what the actual tiles look until about 1:22 into the video there is section that [...]

GUImags are pretty much what the name would suggest: magnets used to design graphical user interfaces (GUI). Above you can see some of the controls that we frequently encounter when working with computers and software. These are meant to be moved around, written on, erased and allow for quick changes during the development of [...]

Well maybe not hot, but The High Contrast is definitely generating some heat. The picture above was generated by Feng-GUI and is a heat map of our blog that displays the areas of primary visual interest on the page.
The Feng-GUI heatmap service is an automatic alternative to eye-tracking. Unlike eye-tracking or click-based heatmaps, Feng-GUI creates [...]

Sometimes asking permission only slows things down. Nicholas Panas must have made this assumption when he dreamed up the Lego iPhone application that gives you the ability to build Lego structures brick-by-brick in virtual space.
The fictional software was developed without the consent of Lego or Apple, but the demo that Nicholas has put together [...]
