Portfolio: Ben Walker

I ran across Ben’s site while doing some image research for a side project. He focuses a lot of his illustrations and paintings on old-west motifs like early flying attempts, bears with guns, and frontier shoot-outs. Here are a few of my faves:

Little People

Little People is a self described “Tiny street art project” where “little handpainted people are left in London to fend for themselves”. The figures that Devin Slinkachu makes are really very small and would be easily overlooked if you did not know they were there. The examples below will give you a sense of scale.

Paper Wars was put together by PostlerFerguson and is being held at Portobello Road’s Craze Gallery in London so anyone reading this probably won’t be able to see any of the pieces in person but you can follow the link [...]

Literally Mapping Literature

There is a really good article/gallery on the the literary maps of Stefanie Posavec at NOTCOT right now. Stefanie’s project was to map out the rhythms, textures, and structures of Jack Kerouac’s book “On the Road”. By exploring the different relationships between words and sentence structures she has developed a series of pattern visualizations that [...]

Astronauts and Dinosaurs

Astronautdinosaur is the portfolio site of painter Scott Listfield. The first line of his artist statement is simply “I paint astronauts and, sometimes, dinosaurs.” Fair enough, but why?

Generations raised on (Lost in Space, the Jetsons, Jurassic Park, etc.) programs, movies, comic books, and novels are now grown and living in a future filled with mini [...]
